Why local? Why now?

The aim of TeesSMEs is to offer a viable local alternative to appointing the national major delivery contractors who often rely on transient workers and global supply chains to deliver projects on behalf of clients.

We have created a collective of trades, professions and disciplines with capability and capacity to deliver projects across Teesside, driven by the desire to create a local legacy focused on job creation, training and shared prosperity.

We see this as a great opportunity to demonstrate the power of local SME businesses to innovate and deliver for major clients and anchor institutions.

TeesSMEs has pulled together to persuade influencers and decision-makers that the SME community can offer tailored and creative solutions, greater value and drive forward project design and delivery more effectively and efficiently.

How

Works

We work collaboratively and can perform as a collective entity to provide the skills, expertise, construction and commissioning solutions to deliver your project successfully.

We aim to keep things simple through:

Simplifying
procurement
decisions

Focus on proactive
programme delivery

TeesSMEs knows getting the job done on time and right first time is of critical importance. We are focused on working in spirit of mutual trust and cooperation inherent in NEC4® in order to do this.

Exploiting synergies
and efficiencies
decisions

By working as a collaborative team, TeesSMEs is incentivised as a whole to achieve successful project outcomes for our clients. Overall project success and our collective reputation will dictate future opportunities. We all have ‘skin in the game’

Who are we?

TeesSMEs has come together to form a project delivery solution for industrial, infrastructure and green energy investors in the region – providing a ‘one-stop-shop’ of expert and effective teams.
We have the capacity, skills and expertise to support all aspects of project design, construction and operation and maintenance.
Our ultimate goal is to help clients successfully and effectively deliver their projects through our local commitment to skills and innovation.

Key people and their business

Each TeesSMEs company has appointed a key spokesperson and decision maker to sit on a steering committee to share knowledge, opportunities, skills and expertise. We work closely to achieve success for all members.

Our mission

TeesSMEs strongly believes that a vibrant, capable and ambitious community of local SME businesses can make a significant and long lasting contribution to regional post Covid economic recovery, creating opportunities for new employment, skills training and shared prosperity.
It is our mission to champion the imagination, agility and capacity of local SME businesses and their supply chains to support the delivery of successful construction, infrastructure, green power and engineering projects in the region – both in terms of commercial value and meaningful social impact.
TeesSMEs is working hard to demonstrate our collective power to those in the public and private sector who are investing in the region.
Given the opportunity to provide our services and skills to major long-term investment projects, we can leverage a host of local legacy benefits for those who work with us, their families and our communities.

Our objective

To build a strong, local, collective of SMEs capable of convincing private and public sector clients and investors to procure from lower down the supply chain tiers wherever possible.
We aim to persuade clients of the wider benefits derived from creating increased, accessible tender opportunities to enable SME providers to compete alongside the bigger players in their markets to offer enhanced value and innovation.

Our measures

We will know we are succeeding when we can report :

+30% more

+28% new

What are we asking for?

TeesSMEs can provide a full project delivery portfolio – from feasibility to construction to maintenance and repair – and the full range of services, disciplines and engineering solutions.
We are asking for the liberation of procurement teams and supply chain managers to actively seek out local SME businesses capable of delivering high quality, innovative solutions for major projects and to consider our offering alongside the national and multinational players.
TeesSMEs is not asking for special treatment. We simply want a level playing field so we can compete on equal footing where we can clearly demonstrate capacity and capability to deliver the solutions needed.

TeesSMEs is ready and able to offer:

  • Project feasibility and Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) studies
  • Design Engineering
  • Procurement and tendering
  • Project Management and Planning Services
  • Commercial Management, Project Controls and Quantity Surveying
  • Civil Engineering
  • Structural Steel and Cladding
  • Mechanical and Electrical Services
  • Control and Instrumentation Systems
  • Scaffold, insulation and painting

“Small businesses are the engine of the UK economy. Small and medium firms with fewer than 250 employees account for £16 million (60%) of all private sector jobs in the UK and £1.75 trillion (51%) of revenue.”

“It is  the responsibility of the broader ecosystem to empower the small business community to not only survive, but thrive.”

Our commitments

TeesSMEs is not all about business growth.
We are committed to doing things right and want to make a difference locally and regionally through good business practices and social impact initiatives.
